Dear BCLAS members, dear colleagues,
We have the pleasure to invite you to our annual Symposium which will take place on 20 and 21 May 2019 at the Floréal Centre in Blankenberge (https://www.florealgroup.be/en/page/blankenberge-en.html).
Like last year the event will take place in the spring and will now include two full days.
To start the event, all our members are invited to partake in the BCLAS General Assembly which will precede the workshops of May 20th. This will give you the opportunity to meeting the members of the Board and learning more about the activities of our association.
The workshop program will be composed of six sponsored workshops and two BCLAS workshops: one organized by the Ethical Committee platform on Non-Technical Summaries and transparency, the other one organized by the Animal Welfare Body (AWB) platform about tasks and responsibilities of AWB. Except where stated otherwise, the working language will be English and no simultaneous translation will be provided, but, if they prefer, participants can express themselves in Dutch or French.
A sandwich lunch will be provided for all participants to the workshops but prior online registration is obligatory.
Before the evening event at the Pier of Blankenberge, there will be a reception in the exhibition area. Participants to the workshops can attend the reception free of charge but prior registration is also required.
The theme of the symposium on May 21st will be
“Be prepared to PREPARE (guidelines)”
On the symposium day, speakers will give their presentation in their own language. Simultaneous translation will be provided from French to Dutch and from Dutch to French. There will be no translation for English presentations.
In parallel to the main symposium, in the morning of May 21st, BCLAS organizes a special forum for animal caretakers and technicians. Animal caretakers and technicians are invited to submit proposals for presentations for this forum. The goal is to share best practices of our daily work in an interactive session.
In between the scientific sessions and breaks, you will have the opportunity to visit the commercial exhibition and talk to the sponsors and exhibitors in a pleasant environment.
Finally, we would like to invite you to present your scientific and technical results at the poster session. This year, in order to give more visibility to the posters, authors will be invited to briefly present their work orally during the symposium.
Please click on the links to find the complete program and all practical information on abstract submission and registration for these two days. Registration is open. A reduced rate is offered for registrations until March 20th 2019, so take advantage of this opportunity!
Looking forward to welcoming you in Blankenberge this spring.
